Netanyahu: Campaign Will Continue Until Victory in Gaza

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that Israel will continue its campaign against Hamas in Gaza until victory is assured, despite not achieving it yet. He emphasized that Israel will not be halted by any means.

In the ongoing conflict in Gaza, Netanyahu conveyed these words in a video message amidst increasing international pressure yesterday. He stated, "We will not stop until we see an end. There is no question about that. I am articulating these words amid extreme international pressure. We will not be deterred by anything. We will persist until victory is assured, and there will be no deviation from this."

In addition, Israel's Foreign Minister, Eli Cohen, echoed a similar sentiment. He mentioned that irrespective of international support or lack thereof, Israel will continue its fight against Hamas.

Amid this stance, a proposal passed in the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday calling for a ceasefire in Gaza. Out of 193 member countries, 153 voted in favour of the proposal, despite the United States voting against it. Australia, Canada, and New Zealand, among others, sided with the proposal, expressing concerns for the safety of Gazan civilians.

Despite the UN vote against the proposal, US President Joe Biden remarked that Israel is starting to lose international support by launching "indiscriminate" bomb attacks in the Palestinian Gaza Strip. Speaking at a fundraiser gathering contributions for election campaigns, Biden's remarks on Israeli authorities have been his strongest stance so far.

Jake Sullivan, a security advisor in Biden's administration, is set to visit Israel today. He plans to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Netanyahu mentioned that there is consensus with Washington on how to govern post-war Gaza.
